Today was my 15th day in a row on the bike and my last one for a little while. I have another Warmshowers stay in Boston tonight - which is really nice because hotels are over $400 a night for the holiday weekend. Kelly and Claire meet me here tomorrow and I’m taking the next 4 days off. I’m going to try and sweet talk a bike shop into giving my bike a tuneup between now and Wednesday morning. Most of the shops seem to have a couple week backlog in their service departments.
The ride today was pretty non-descript. I was going to ride the Battle Road Trail from Lexington to Concord, but I was tapped out by the time I got to Lexington. Besides, I walked a chunk of the trail and been to Concord last summer. I rode into Boston through IQ Central (aka Cambridge, where Harvard and MIT are located). I stopped for awhile in Harvard Square to see if I could get smarter by just breathing the same air as those people. That‘s probably about as genius an idea as killing COVID by drinking bleach.
At some point over the weekend, I will post my updated state grades, as I’ve now stayed in 24 of the 48. I also hit the 2500 mile mark this evening.
For the younger readers out there, you pick up the black thing and hold one end to your ear and the other to your mouth. You put coins in the slot at the top and then you push the numbered buttons. Hopefully someone on the other end will start talking.
A little shout out to the folks still hard at work
Lots of this in Massachusetts. None of this in Maine.
Just livin’ my best life
A tad bit of Revolutionary War history. I doubt the “Open” sign was there in 1775. That has a newer feel to it.
Congrats, Jon, you’ve made the first bug pause. Great work. Joe R
